About Nate Cordery
Nate Cordery is a Brighton based artist whose painting approach is vigorous and unique. Nate works both plein air and within the comforts of his studio located on Brighton seafront.
Nate grew up and studied painting in the steel city of Sheffield. At the age of 32 he moved to Cornwall, living between St.Ives and Newlyn where he became a member of the St.Ives School of Art. He was inspired by the example of the Newlyn school's practice of 'en plein air' landscape painting. Work at this time was also influenced by the Impressionists, and by the recent landscape work of David Hockney.
Now living in Brighton working often out of his seafront studio, inspiration comes from the beauty in nature and our surroundings, the spaces we humans create, and the lives we inhabit. These crossovers are a constant source of interest.
Nate has exhibited across many venues in Brighton and Hove, and in venues across England. He is currently represented by the Art5 Gallery in the centre of Brighton.
